Empowering Girls, Women, and Youth in Kawempe, Uganda
Areca Foundation works with vulnerable communities to promote empowerment, prevent gender-based violence, and protect child rights.
Our Programs
Areca Foundation runs three core programs because the challenges in Kawempe are connected. Empowerment, protection from violence, and child rights work together to create safe and stable communities. Focusing on these three areas addresses root causes, immediate risks, and long term wellbeing

Community Empowerment
Girls, women, and youth in Kawempe face limited access to skills, income opportunities, and decision making spaces. Many households rely on unstable income sources. Young people lack employable skills. Women face exclusion from economic activities. These gaps increase poverty, dependency, and exposure to abuse

Child Rights Program
Children in Kawempe face risks of abuse, early labor, neglect, and violence. Many caregivers lack clear knowledge of child rights and protection laws. Reporting systems remain weak. Fear and stigma prevent early response. These conditions expose children to long term harm and limit healthy development.

Gender Based Violence Program
Gender based violence affects girls and women across Kawempe. Many survivors face physical harm, emotional trauma, and economic dependence. Social norms discourage reporting. Limited access to support services increases risk and isolation. These conditions allow violence to continue.
